About
Paying For Retirement is a personal finance blog with a very small scope of goals. The main concept is to share my unique views and insights on the world of personal finance. Simply put - I love money. It’s not that I have a lot of it or that I am greedy, I just have always been fond of how money works. This blog will represent my sharing of knowledge.
So what are my qualifications? Well the closest thing I have is a Degree in Economics. I avoided a Finance degree because a) I was academically lazy b) I am not fond of math and c) I was looking for a business-like degree to compliment my communications degree. Other education I have is just the vast amount of reading on the subject of personal finance, taxes, saving money, retirement accounts, and market investing. At no point would I call myself an expert in these fields, however I do know enough to hold intelligent conversations. I’ve also been an uncertified financial planner for my mother and sister for the past few years, dishing out advice on investments and debt reduction. They haven’t abandoned me yet, so I believe my advice to be of some value. I’ve also helped friends with their budgeting and finances, as well as teach my wife a few things about the value of a dollar.
What will I be writing about? I hope to focus on topics like: debt management, personal savings, retirement investing, and other everyday expenditures when it comes to household financial management. There are a lot of tips, tricks, and ideas on how to save money and maximize your income. These are the stories I’d like to share.
In the sense of full disclosure, I’d also like to make some additional income. Although I enjoy personal finance, I am not a solid writer and do understand the time value of money. If I can get my hosting fees paid for that would be enough for me. I’ve seen others out there with the claims of making thousands and that is great and I hope that will someday be me. However, I’m not going to be delusional and set high expectations of myself. If I can post 200 times my first year, I’ll be absolutely amazed with myself.
Lastly, I want to be interesting. I don’t want to bore my few readers with repetitious dribble and not be helpful. For this I’ll hope that my reader(s) will provide topics of interest or questions of their own so that I can provide my insights and open up the conversation to you the reader. If you have feedback, please let me know. I enjoy both the good and the bad, but keep the ugly to yourself.
Thanks and enjoy Paying For Retirement.
