This week’s Carnival is up and being hosted by Wide Open Wallet. My article on Flexible Spending Accounts has been listed. Below are some of my favorite listings for the week.
- Four Pillars discusses the pros and cons of buying a new or used car. I’m on the side of used.
- Fiscal Fizzle offers up some great ways to make that dreaded spouse/money conversation a little easier.
- Poorer Than You talks about Renter’s Insurance – what it is, what it does, and whether you need it. Spoiler: the answer is if you rent, you need it.
- Gen X, with the help of a guest post, provides 5 things to learn from the current market bust.
- Gather Little explains income diversity and how you can achieve it.
If you haven’t already, subscribe to the Carnival. This is a great way to get a ton of money related articles and tips in one quick and easy post.

1Thanks for including my article about renters insurance in your favorites for this festival! The thing I found most interesting actually came from the comments – after some prompting from my readers, I remembered that renters insurance isn’t just cheap – it can often be free! Sometimes the combined package from an insurer (car insurance + renters) is cheaper than car insurance alone! I wouldn’t believe it if I hadn’t seen it with my own two eyes, but it’s true. Always inquire with your current insurance providers to find the best prices and packages.

2Thanks for including my article!
@Stephanie – Wow! I had never considered approaching it that way, and have always kept my renter’s insurance separate from everything else. I will have to check it out and run the numbers.
